When I was quite young, my father had one of the first telephones in our neighborhood.
I remember well, the polished old case fastened to the wall and the shiny receiver on the side of the box.
I was too little to reach the telephone, but used to listen with fascination when my mother would talk to it. Then I discovered that somewhere inside the wonderful device lived an amazing person and her name was "Information Please" and there was nothing she did not know.
"Information Please" could supply anybody's number and the correct time.
My first personal experience with this genie-in-a-bottle came one day while my mother was visiting a neighbor. Amusing myself at the tool bench in the basement. I whacked my finger with hammer.
The pain was terrible but there didn't seem to be any reason in crying because there was no one home to give me sympathy. I walked around the house sucking my throbbing finger, finally arriving at the stairway, the telephone! Quickly, I ran for the footstool in the parlor and held it to my ear.
"Information Please" I said into the mouthpiece just above my head.
A click or two and a small clear voice spoke into my ear.
"Information."
"I hurt my finger!" I wailed into the phone.
The tears came readily enough now that I had an audience.
"Isn't your mother home?" came the question.
"Nobody's home but me," I blubbered.
"Are you bleeding?" the voice asked.
"No," I replied. "I hit my finger with a hammer and it hurts."
"Can you open your icebox?" she asked. I said I could!
"Then chip off a piece of ice and hold it to your finger," said the voice.
After that, I called "Information Please" for everything.
I asked her for help with my geography and she told me where Philadelphia was. She helped me with my math.
She told me that my pet chipmunk, which I had caught in the park just the day before, would eat fruit and nuts. Then there was the time Petey, our pet canary died. I called "Information Please" and told her the sad story. She listened, and then said the usual thing grown-ups say to soothe a child. But, I was inconsolable. I asked her, "Why is it that birds should sing so beautifully and bring joy to all families, only to end up as a heap of feathers on the bottom of a cage?"
She must have sensed my deep concern, for she said quietly, "Paul, you must remember that there are other worlds to sing in." Somehow, I felt better.
Another day I was on the telephone.
"Information Please".
"Information," said the now familiar voice.
"How do you spell 'fix'?"
I asked. All this took place in a small town in the Pacific Northwest.
When I was nine years old, we moved across the country to Boston.
I missed my friend very much. "Information Please" belonged in that old wooden box back home and somehow I never thought of trying the tall, new shiny phone that sat on the table in the hall.
As I grew into my teens, the memories of those childhood conversations never really left me. Often, in moments of doubt and perplexity I would recall the serene sense of security I had then. I appreciated now how patient, understanding and kind she was to have spent her! Time on a little boy.
A few years later, on my way west to college, my plane put down in Seattle. I had about half-an-hour or so between planes. I spent 15 minutes or so on the phone with my sister, who lived there now. Then, without thinking about what I was doing, I dialed my hometown operator and said, "Information Please." Miraculously, I heard the small clear voice I knew so well.
"Information." I hadn't planned this, but I heard myself saying, "Could you please tell me how to spell "fix"?"

"Please do," she said. "Just ask for Sally."
Three months later I was back in Seattle.
A different voice answered, "Information." I asked for Sally.
"Are you a friend?" she said.
"Yes, a very old friend," I answered.
"I'm sorry to have to tell you this," she said.
"Sally had been working part time in the last few years because she was sick. She died five weeks ago." Before I could hang up she said, "Wait a minute.
Are you Paul?"
"Yes".
"Well, Sally left a message for you. She wrote it down in case you called. Let me read it to you."

Personally, I prefer these singers to the english singers in these days =/ So power! and the song is great!!!!

I love ge tai
Went to pay our respects to grandpa yesterday.
After that, mommy and I went on a shopping spree.
Poor bro had to carry home the groceries that she bought earlier.. all by himself. heh.
I spent a total of $200+!
Goodness. Shoes, clothes, earrings, mop (YES I bought a mop =/).
It has been a loooooong time since I last spent so much on shopping.
After that, Mommy and I went to [Gu Cai Ba] temple to watch ge tai.
It totally rocks! The sound system rocks, the hosts and singers rock..
it's machiam like free outdoor concert~
The only thing is that the audience, which consists of mostly uncles and aunties in their 40s and 50s, were SUPER unenthusiastic =(
Many times I wanted to shout and cheer.. but kinda paiseh la haha.
I was so excited when this singer (I forgot her name!) sang one song from 881 - huan2 jing4 huai. direct translation: bad economy.
Anyway, there were around.. 6000 people?
Took some pics but lazy to upload here.. hehe.
I love ge tai now! =)
it's actually thanks to 881 that made me wanna go watch ge tai.. and im loving it~~~
Before I end this entry, I wanna point out some stuffs that I found out about my mom yesterday.
1) She can sing almost all the songs! She sang yi ren yi ban to me while we were waiting for the bus. and sang 12 lian hua while we were having dinner. HAHAHA~
2) She is super cute. I know I've mentioned this before.. but she is super cute =X
3) She is VERY blur. Doing wrong stuffs almost all the time -_-
4) She makes me laugh non-stop!
5) She is super naggy.. LOL!
P.S: Just read wm's tag and I remembered that there's a new KFC at my house market! YEA~~~~* My mashed potato is just 10mins away. YUMS :DDDD

I am super pissed off.
Ok, here's the story.
Before my 2-year contract ended in july 07, I called singtel up multiple times, checking and double checking and triple checking with them to make sure that I would still be under students' plan if I extend my contract. I even went to Singtel's HELLO shop to check with them lor.
(Poor viv was the one who went with me alot of times.. i think. haha.)
Anyway, when I first called singtel, the lady told me that she cant confirm, as I have to wait till nearing the end of my plan, then she can confirm with me. I started calling them up after my birthday when my plan ends one month later. I know I'm super kiasu, but HEY. I AM PAYING MY OWN BILL OKAY.
So I just went to check and check again. thus the multiple calls. Plus it's my first time extending a hp plan and I want everything to be correct.
After that, every call that I made confirmed with me that I would still be under students' plan.
I was soooo relieved.. cos I thought that my 500 extra sms (singtel to singtel) and 20 free sms would be safe.
And then, I asked AGAIN when I went to purchase my nokia 6288 at TM Hello Shop. And I didnt ask once. no not twice either.. BUT THREE TIMES. and the lady assured me that I would still be under the same plan. (I think she was cursing me for asking the same question so many times =X)
Anyway, the point is, NONE OF THEM told me that if I continue the plan, I would not be able to enjoy the extra sms and mms.. because that privilege is only for new users + for the first 24mths only.
what different is there from the normal iOnePlus plan?
I know I know, you are probably going to say that I have the responsibility to check my contract. I know that too. haha. but why is it that none of them told me about it? Is it on purpose?
I guess I'm mostly angry with myself ba..

Ok, here's the story.
Before my 2-year contract ended in july 07, I called singtel up multiple times, checking and double checking and triple checking with them to make sure that I would still be under students' plan if I extend my contract. I even went to Singtel's HELLO shop to check with them lor.
(Poor viv was the one who went with me alot of times.. i think. haha.)
Anyway, when I first called singtel, the lady told me that she cant confirm, as I have to wait till nearing the end of my plan, then she can confirm with me. I started calling them up after my birthday when my plan ends one month later. I know I'm super kiasu, but HEY. I AM PAYING MY OWN BILL OKAY.
So I just went to check and check again. thus the multiple calls. Plus it's my first time extending a hp plan and I want everything to be correct.
After that, every call that I made confirmed with me that I would still be under students' plan.
I was soooo relieved.. cos I thought that my 500 extra sms (singtel to singtel) and 20 free sms would be safe.
And then, I asked AGAIN when I went to purchase my nokia 6288 at TM Hello Shop. And I didnt ask once. no not twice either.. BUT THREE TIMES. and the lady assured me that I would still be under the same plan. (I think she was cursing me for asking the same question so many times =X)
Anyway, the point is, NONE OF THEM told me that if I continue the plan, I would not be able to enjoy the extra sms and mms.. because that privilege is only for new users + for the first 24mths only.
what different is there from the normal iOnePlus plan?
I know I know, you are probably going to say that I have the responsibility to check my contract. I know that too. haha. but why is it that none of them told me about it? Is it on purpose?
I guess I'm mostly angry with myself ba..

Are you happy?
Yesterday was LiMei's last day =(
I AM MISSING HER! Like how I miss the JYs and Valerie! haha~
anyway... two days ago, my senior asked me this question.
"pH. are you happy?"
Was quite blur at first cos he asked out of the blue. =x
But surprisingly, I answered, "Yes I am happy!"
and I realised.. I meant it =)
Because.. though I lost some stuffs, I found more.
I lost him..but i found more treasured friends..
I didnt get into uni.. but I can now ease my parents' financial burden + save money for the trip and future =D
But that doesnt mean I am satisfied with my life the way it is now.
happy does not mean satisfied.. right? o.O
I AM GOing to change my life for the better!
firstly, I'll ask DM to marry me. IM KIDDING LA =x
haha.
I am learning to detach myself from the sh*t feelings.
lol.
maybe that's why i'm taking the MRT from work le. (:

poor toe
my poor little toe.
hais.
and my poor legs =(
On saturday,I squeezed my giant feet into the shoes and my toe (the one that the auntie kicked and the nail dropped out) was screaming in pain when I walked.
When I reached home, I shouted, "never again will I make that toe suffer!"
ok, "never" lasted two days.
Today, I squeezed my feet into the same shoes againnN~~~
AND.
I alighted at the WRONG bus stop. Instinct told me that I overshot one bus stop and should walk back. but then again, my instinct is ALWAYS wrong.
therefore, I asked passers-by for directions and they led me in CiRCLES!
40mins later, I ended up at the point which I started -_-
I started talking to myself (BAD sign) and motivating myself to "just walk abit more"/ "jia you! reaching soon!" as my feet were screaming and I could feel blisters popping their way out. (yucks)
Then I hecked care and followed my instincts for once.
And *surprise surprise!*
I turned out to be correct

the best thing is.. today is NOT even tuesday and im so suay!!! omgggg.

Thank goodness bro was with me. haha.
Super freaked out.!
Ok I know I freaked out easily la :D
The MV portrayed JJ in a different light.
Gone was the sweet guy with the shy smile (not to forget dimples!)
In place is this psychotic guy with senile smile.. EEEeeew.
Bro just opened his eyes wide (it's difficult, cos he has small eyes =X) throughout the whole 22-min MV.
I covered his eyes when they showed some RA scenes =X he's not yet 18 after all. haha.

Went out with Mochi yesterday!
Went to Manhattan Fish Market for lunch.. cheaper than Fish and Co.!
Food is quite nice as well.
After that, we went to watch [Rush Hour 3].
Super hilarious movie =D
I specially love the part where "carter" told this Asian guy, "STOP Humiliating yourself!". HAHA.
Anyway, we made our way to Tamp after that.. Resa came and joined us for awhile.. Tk care girl! FIND your voice back! =]
At 7.05pm, kY, yw kW and I chionged into tamp gv for [881].
Yes two movies in a day. HAHA.
I'm not rich okies.. cos they have safra discount ma... =/
[881] is good.. especially if you understand hokkien.~
And I realised that I know most of the hokkien songs in the movie.
Cos I listened to them during my childhood O.O
So there's a sense of familiarity. haha
The ending is super sad though =(
And I spent ALOT of money yesterday!
$18 for lunch
$3.50 for dinner
$16 for both movies
$12.80 for "For One More Day"
$12.80 for "Tuesdays with Morrie"
$3.40 for Starbucks drink
Haven't spent so much in a looooong time :s
But felt quite happy that I bought two books!

Ok, I wanted to talk about the national day celebration but...
1) I havent gotten the pics from kY.
2) I'm lazy to upload the pics from my hp (anyway I only took 4 pics with hp ok.)
So I shall talk about my day. =D
Woke up bright and early (for a saturday) and basically ran around the house like mad.
Then went to Ubi~
The weather is SUPER HOT CANS?
After that, I went to the market alone to cut my hair!
Ok, if you dont know me well.... I have to let you know that I HATE cutting hair.
Because my childhood wish is to have hair as long as sailor moon's. oops.
And everytime my mom wants to me to cut my hair, I'd be moody for days and try to get out of it. heh.
I have to say (again) that my last hairstyle (in apr 07) won praises from two people ok.
One of em is our dear old friend kY HAHA.
The other is not worth it to mention here. lala..
Anyway, the point is, I actually felt shiok to see the hairdresser chopping my hair away today =/
But I still tensed up (as usual) while she was snapping away. :s
the length is still the same.. jus that the fringe is short.
and the 2nd point is.. i went to cut hair alone. WOOTS.
Is that a sign of MATURITY OR WHAT?
HAHAHHAH!
eh.. but I have sad hair now.
Cos it's "pong pong" and refuses to flatten. kanasaiiiiiiii.
I spent so much time in front of the mirror looking at my stupid ugly face, trying to flatten the hair but to no avail!

After that, I slacked at home till it was time to meet kkh for dinner =))

About my sissy
Sissy gave me a scare when she talked to me with SMILES this morning.
I seriously got such a shock that I thought I was going to have a heart attack =x
Those who know my Sissy will know that tt woman is SUPER unfriendly to her family (and bf)
HAHAHA.
She can totally ignore you whenever she wants to.
Or scream at you (then after that insist that she wasnt screaming) -_-
Or simply give a black face/attitude to whatever you telling her.
Sheesh. it's tough being her sissy right?
but someone (ME!) has to do the job. lol~
anyway, usually she totally ignores me in the mornings.
ok la, sometimes she would step onto my leg or hair (SOB!) and NOT apologise when she walks around the room.
It's cos of my big size + I sleep on the floor with a sad mattress. boohoos.
today, she GRINNED at me and talked!

Jay chou's movie is nice (: Actually it's the plot that's nice! Those kind that I like ^^ but jies and I were dying throughout the movie because the top part of the screen was cut off aka no head room. -_- thus alot of the actors/actresses heads and/or eyes are cut off.. knss. I swear my eyeballs nearly got stuck up there cos I was trying to look for the top of their heads. LOL.
dont think jaychou is such a lousy director la. so most prob is the screen resolution prob? dunno. maybe can consider watching it at another theatre hehe.

Jay chou's movie is nice (: Actually it's the plot that's nice! Those kind that I like ^^ but jies and I were dying throughout the movie because the top part of the screen was cut off aka no head room. -_- thus alot of the actors/actresses heads and/or eyes are cut off.. knss. I swear my eyeballs nearly got stuck up there cos I was trying to look for the top of their heads. LOL.
dont think jaychou is such a lousy director la. so most prob is the screen resolution prob? dunno. maybe can consider watching it at another theatre hehe.

Sometimes I feel that he's 10, other times I feel that he's 30. OOps.
Anyway, I dont wanna waste my one year away.

So I'm going to do stuffs that I never got the chance to do while I'm schooling.
As for what it is.. eh. I shall think about it.

Tricked her that I was the only one there to fetch her. hehe.
I didnt know I am so good at lying ok =P
She looked (pleasantly) SHOCKED to see kY, viv, yw and mandia too =DD
Went out with Resa yesterday and did alot of catching up with her ^^
(three months worth of stuffs to update her!!)
I dont think we finished talking though =/

black tuesdays
On 12th jun 07 (tuesday), I made a mistake and caused my colleagues to be locked outside the room =X
On 31st Jul 07 (tuesday), my toe bleed. (refer to two entries below this for details.)

Today is fun =)
Met up with jikit and Jies~
Had Dinner at Sakae *burps* and drinks at Starbucks after that.
This is LIFE man~~ =D
And we went PS to play the bball game.. hehe.
But my score sucks =( Nvm I'll zai jie zai li de!!!!
While walking to PS, we passed by Istana and suddenly, i received this sms from KH (no, not kkh haha) asking if I'm in town! O.O
Shocking cans? the last time we contacted was like, 2yrs (??) ago?
And the last time we saw each other was... 5 yrs ago? o.O
The point is.. he recognised me!
THAT IS A BAD SIGN. =(
because i never change for the better at all.sob.
Anyway I guess my fate with DM is not over yet.
HAHAHHA. ok la bullshit =/
But hey.. really coincidence leh!
For those who are guessing.. neh. I didn't see him.. sob.
Someone else did, though.. *winks*

exciting life
I've been complaining about how unexciting my life is.
But hey! In a short span of less-than-one week, two "exciting" events had taken place -.-
Firstly it's that bus accident thinggie...
Then yesterday, the most "exciting" thing happened to me!
My toetail came off my toe.
*cues "EEWWSS" and "YUCKS"
I was standing in the bus, on my way to meet Jies when this auntie walked past me and accidentally kicked the small toe on my right foot.
I just went, "ouch" and continued stoning.
However, after a moment, I felt that something was not right.
I looked down and saw blood dripping from my toe to my slippers -_-
My poor little toe looks damaged, with half of the nail on the right threatening to fall out any moment and blood oozing out at the same time.
SUPER DISGUSTING LAR.
I turned to benson and weimin: "my toe dripping blood"
Surprisingly my voice was super calm. O.O
I alighted the bus with them and nice Benson went off to help me buy plaster.
I slipped my feet out of the slipper and to my HORROR, the bottom of the slipper was covered with blood - MY BLOOD! oO.Oo
But I started to laugh when I saw this little boy beside me looking at my toe in horror.
so cute =X
Then I started whining (i think I was whining lol) to Weimin about the loss of blood and about me dying =/
I called mommy and she said that if there's infection, i'd have to go for injection and worse, operation.
I Nearly cried on the spot oK!
But neh, I'm strong. HAHAA.
Thanks to Benson for the plaster and Weimin for enduring my nonsense. LOL .
I took one hour to cut off (almost) my whole nail. Yucks.
Surprisingly, it didn't hurt.. much. haha.
But it hurts today =( cos I "wrapped" the toe up in plaster and socks and stuffed it into my sports shoe. HAHAAH.
p.s: I kept showing off my toe to bro yesterday and he got pek chek at me =D
p.p.s: mommy is so nice to wait up for me last night so as to give me instructions on how to disinfect the toe. AWww touched*~~
p.p.p.s: Wanted to take pics of the toe and post it here.. but I decided that I dont wanna gross anyone (including myself) out.
p.p.p.p.s: How long does it take for a toenail to grow ar???????????????????????
